I grew up in a home filled with boxes of cookies, cakes and pies. Both my grandfather and father worked in bakeries in New York City.
My mother was a fine artist and always encouraged me artistically by letting me paint beside her. A plate of cookies or a cupcake helped keep me quiet while I drew or finger painted as she worked on her own canvas.
Graduating from Brown University, I realized that I was the synthesis of both parents: An artist who loved to paint desserts. Using food as a subject for my artwork was something that felt both comfortable and a topic that was universal to viewers.
Besides food, painting leisure activities such as golf, badminton and water skiing have also been a few of my favorite series ideas. These works allow me to be carefree as I lose myself in the whimsical aspects of each creation.
